SAPLING Privacy Policy
Sapling
Privacy Policy
Effective 8 October 2026
The short version
Sapling doesn't collect your personal data. There are no ads, no tracking and no analytics. Your plants live on your device and in your own iCloud account.
What Sapling stores
Your plants, watering history, notes, photos, growth journal, saved plants, profile name and avatar, and settings. This is stored on your device. If you're signed in to iCloud, plants, notes and garden membership are also stored in your private iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit, so they sync and can be shared.
Sharing with friends
If you invite someone to your garden, the people who join can see and change the plants, notes and watering history in that garden, and see your profile name and avatar. You can stop sharing or leave a garden at any time in the Friends tab.
Photos and the camera
Sapling uses your camera and photo library only when you choose to scan, identify or diagnose a plant, or add a progress photo. Photos are analysed on your device using Apple Intelligence and Apple's Vision framework. We never receive your photos.
Apple Intelligence and Image Playground
Identification, the plant doctor and garden art use Apple's on-device models. Apple's handling of this data is covered by Apple's privacy policy. Sapling doesn't send your data to any other AI or server.
Notifications
Watering and feeding reminders are scheduled on your device. If iCloud sharing is on, Apple's push service may quietly wake Sapling to sync changes from your garden.
Children
Sapling isn't directed at children under 13 and doesn't knowingly collect information from them.
Deleting your data
Delete plants in the app, or delete Sapling to remove everything on your device. To remove synced data, delete Sapling's data from iCloud in Settings › [your name] › iCloud › Manage Storage.
