CG CAMERA PRIVACY POLICY

Privacy Policy

Effective 9 October 2026

This policy explains how the CG Camera iPhone app and its Cinema 4D plugin and Blender add-on (together, "CG Camera") handle information. CG Camera is made by Asset Browser LTD ("we", "us"), a company registered in England and Wales. Contact: hello@assetbrowser.co.uk.

Summary

  • The iPhone app does not collect personal data. There are no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking.
  • Motion data from your iPhone goes only to the computer you connect it to, over your own Wi-Fi network or a USB cable. It is never sent to us or anyone else.
  • When you activate the Cinema 4D plugin, the plugin sends your licence key and an anonymous identifier for the computer to our licensing server, so a key can be used on up to two computers.

The iPhone app

The app uses your iPhone's motion sensors (gyroscope and accelerometer) to work out how the phone is moving. It turns this into camera movement and sends it, while you are connected, directly to the Cinema 4D plugin or Blender add-on on the computer you chose. The data is processed in real time and is not stored or sent anywhere else.

To show which phone is connected, the app also sends your iPhone's device name to that computer.

The app asks for Local Network access. It uses this only to find computers running the CG Camera plugin on your network and to connect to them. It does not scan for or contact other devices. You can turn this off in Settings › Privacy & Security › Local Network; you can still connect with a USB cable.

Your settings, such as smoothing, sensitivity and drone options, are stored only on your iPhone. They are removed when you delete the app.

The app contains no third-party analytics, advertising or tracking code, and it does not use your location, camera, microphone, photos or contacts.

The Cinema 4D plugin and licence activation

The Cinema 4D plugin needs a licence key. When you activate, check or deactivate a licence, the plugin sends our licensing server:

  • your licence key
  • an anonymous machine identifier, a one-way hash of your computer's hardware ID that cannot be turned back into it
  • the computer's name, so you can recognise it if you need to free up an activation
  • the plugin version, the Cinema 4D version and the operating system

We use this only to check your licence, to enforce the limit of two computers per key, and to help you if you contact support. The plugin then checks your licence again from time to time. Your scenes, files and camera data are never sent to us.

The Blender add-on does not need a licence and does not contact our servers.

Buying a licence

Licences are sold through our online shop, which runs on Shopify. When you buy, Shopify processes your name, email address, billing details and order on our behalf, under Shopify's privacy policy. We do not see or store your full payment card details.

Our licensing server receives your order number, name and email address from Shopify so it can create your licence key and email it to you. The email is sent through our email delivery provider. The licensing server runs on Cloudflare.

Why we use your information

Under UK data protection law (the UK GDPR), our lawful basis is:

  • Performing our contract with you: issuing your licence key, activating it and providing support.
  • Our legitimate interests: preventing licence misuse and keeping our systems secure.
  • Legal obligations: keeping order and tax records.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for advertising or profiling.

How long we keep it

We keep licence and activation records for as long as your licence is in use, and for up to six years afterwards for accounting, tax and dispute purposes. Deactivated computers are removed from your licence straight away. Order records held by Shopify follow Shopify's retention settings for our shop.

Where it is processed

Our service providers, Shopify, Cloudflare and our email delivery provider, may process data outside the UK. Where they do, they use legal safeguards recognised under UK law, such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or adequacy regulations.

Your rights

You have the right to access, correct or delete your personal data, to object to or restrict its use, and to data portability. To use these rights, email hello@assetbrowser.co.uk. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Children

CG Camera is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

Changes

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top and publish the new version in the app and on our website.
